Elizabeth Lee Bates
… aka An Old Knitty Lady.
I came by this moniker indirectly, as it were, and it was the inspiration of my nephew; he being seven or eight at the time. I entered a pair of mitts, handspun and handknit, in a local fiber fair. I got a ribbon! And the nephew, employing that sensibility altogether common to the eight-year-old human male, observed that “the other old knitty ladies” must have been really bummed that I won a ribbon.
Whaddya mean “other”? … says I. And my sister (we are only 18 months apart) seconded my query.
But that keen observer of indisputable fact, who was, and is, my nephew, was not to be phased, deterred, or moved to mitigation. Old Knitty Lady. It is what it is. And it’s not so bad.
This blog is for my fiber crafter and stuff recycler persona. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and, for the last ten years, in my vehicle. Notwithstanding, the doodle pictured here is the sort of thing you can do while living in your car … if you want. Coming up on semi-retirement, I have some time and want to sell my creations. Of course, Etsy and Ebay and WhatNot will allow for that, but I also want to write about my projects and about my life in the car. So, for the time being, this is my attempt at the blogging portion of the project.
